  5.     Jack Kevorkian -- a.k.a. Dr. Death -- may be back in
  6. business. Kevorkian, 62, a retired Michigan pathologist, gained
  7. national notoriety last year when he used his home-built
  8. suicide machine to help Alzheimer's patient Janet Adkins kill
  9. herself. Last week, two days after Oakland County Circuit Judge
  10. Alice Gilbert issued a court injunction barring Kevorkian from
  11. using the suicide machine, he announced that he had counseled
  12. a dentist with cancer who was (and likely still is)
  13. contemplating using a similar machine of his own. Said
  14. Kevorkian: "I'm just testing the limits of the injunction."

  16.     Kevorkian vowed that he would use his machine again "under
  17. the correct circumstances." If he does, there may be little his
  18. opponents can do about it: murder charges brought against him
  19. for Mrs. Adkins' suicide were dismissed last December in part
  20. because Michigan has no law against physician-assisted suicide.
